Grasshopper Rock Devils Rock Pinot Noir

Cracka Review

Grasshopper Rock is proof that Central Otago is one of the worlds most exciting regions for Pinot and the Devils Rock is a great introduction to the style. It’s a barren and challenging environment to make wine but the results are more than worth it. So true to the variety, with cherry and spice before a red-fruited palate with soft tannins and lingering intensity.

Winemaker's Notes

Made from the famous Central Otago Pinot Noir specialist Grasshopper Rock, this is a wonderful introduction to premium Pinot Noir in the Central Otago style. The Vineyard at Alexandria is one of the southernmost vineyards in the entire world. The climate at this extreme attitude is harsh but it makes the vineyard work hard thereby producing Pinot Noir of flavor.

Colour - Bright with clear and scarlet hues.

Nose - Rich cherry and red fruit aromas with touches of spice and vanilla.

Palate - Rich cherry and red fruit complimented by a firm structure with a velvety palate and soft tannins with a lingering aftertaste.

Expert Reviews

WINESTATE (2008 Vintage) says
Great value, single-vineyard red, grown at Alexandra and matured in French oak barrels. Deep and rich, with ripe cherry, plum, herb and spice flavours, hints of raisins and coffee, and good, savoury complexity. Rated highly by all judges.
