Greenhough Nelson Gewurztraminer

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Initiall lush, fragrant rose petal aromas with underlying complexities of vanilla, tropical fruit and a hint of creaminess. The palate has a soft, luscious entry. There are notes of honey, stone fruits and savoury/brioche.Gently spicy, gingery notes contribute a subtly vibrant aspect.
The mouthfeel is rich with a seemless texture which travels throughout the palate. Extra time on yeast lees has undoubtedly created great natural suppleness and balance to the wine, subduing some of the more overt characters and phenolic firmness that the variety can sometimes show.

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
Grown at Hope and Moutere, the 2009 vintage is richly perfumed and mouth filling, with concentrated peach, lychee and spice flavours, and an off-dry (8 grams/litre of residual sugar), finely balanced finish.

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
Grown at two sites, at Mapua and Hope, and partly barrel-fermented (25 per cent), the 2008 vintage has a ripely scented, spicy, gingery bouquet, substantial body (14.5 per cent alcohol) and slightly sweet (8.5 grams/litre of residual sugar) pear, lychee, peach and spice flavours. It's a powerful, concentrated wine, already highly enjoyable.
