Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
This wine is handled in a similar way to its Hope Vineyard stablemate (above), but without the contribution of as much new oak or fruit from the oldest vines. The 2003 vintage was hand-harvested from a range of sites, including the estate vineyard. Two-thirds of the wine was barrel-aged, and the final blend has a 23 per cent new French oak component. Deep and youthful in colour, it has a fragrant, spicy, plummy bouquet and mouthfilling, warm and generous palate, crammed with flavour. Moderately firm, with a seasoning of toasty oak, it's an unexpectedly good wine for a second label, offering very satisfying drinking now to 2006.
