Greenstone Sangiovese

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Light, clear red colour; in the manner of the variety, has more intensity and drive than the colour might suggest; there is a delicious sour cherry edge to the main game of darker cherry and tannin flavours; the overall expression of sangiovese is totally convincing.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Bright on the bouquet with sour red cherry, fennel and bramble; vibrant acidity and gravelly tannins drive the palate, with a dollop of toasty oak remaining; a savoury and ultimately refreshing wine.

Matt Skinner (2007 Vintage) says
Greenstone is a three-way partnership between oenologist Alberto Antonini, Master of Wine David Gleave, and viticulturist Mark Walpole. With room for one more superstar in the mix, the wines are made by Sandro Mosel. Destined to become one of Australia's benchmark examples of sangiovese, expect plenty of brooding fruit here coupled with trademark tobacco and spice. A similarly intense palate is nicely framed by dry and chalky sangiovese tannin and good acidity. Drink it with chargrilled rib eye and plenty of peppery olive oil and sea salt.
