Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
Super-dry, near-bitter reds are the most difficult to assess as youngsters and, while most of them don't end up much chop, the odd one really blossoms with age. This wine may have a few tricks up its sleeve. It aims really high and just doesn't make it - though what some extra time in the bottle will do to the wine is difficult to judge. For now, it's tight, savoury and hard to coax forward, its toasty oak and warm alcohol giving a shrill aspect to its menthol, cherried, twiggy fruit flavour. Come back to this wine in a couple of years' time.

Tim Kirk of Glonakilla fame buys Hilltops region shiraz grapes from the Grove Estate vineyard, as good an endorsement as any that the quality is good. One taste of this though and you have all the endorsement you need. 2006 RELEASE Lots to love here - of the kind worth sharing. It's full-bodied but elegant, ribbed with spicy flavour, long through the finish and charming in the silken, soft, polished way it goes about seducing you. Spicy, dark-cherried fruit, integrated cedary oak, an obvious sense of cool-climate finesse and lots and lots of ageing potential. DRINK 2008-2018.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Bright, deep purple-red; a medium-bodied mix of black pepper, spice, blackberry and plum fruit supported by firm, fine tannins; subtle oak.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deep colour; powerful dark fruits and spice; integrated oak; good tannins and length. Quality cork. Gold medal National Wine Show '05.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Densely coloured; extremely concentrated, but not extractive or alcoholic (only 13.5°); a cascade of dark berry and chocolate fruits; a dash of Viognier all to the good. Low yield.
