Guigal Saint Joseph Rouge
Dark red with violet tints. Powerful nose dominated by red berries and delicate oak aromas. Powerful attack. Round and supple tannins.
Saint Joseph is one of the most underrated regions in France, and in good vintages like 2009 from an epic producer like Guigal, you just can't go wrong! This one displays dense, vivid aromas of dark fruits and purple flowers, together with licks of meaty savouriness, black licorice and mocha. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a compact blackberry middle, fine and tight tannins, and a dry, spicy, savoury-edged finish. This will live for a few years, and will benefit.
