Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
The 1995 and 1996 vintages were striking, and the 1997 vintage of this Hawke's Bay wine is almost as impressive. Grown in the Ohiti Valley, it was whole-bunch pressed and then fermented and lees-aged for nine months in half new, half one-year-old French oak barriques. It's a rich, weighty style with ripe, grapefruit-like, biscuity flavours and a touch of butterscotch in a complex and harmonious style with good concentration and mouthfeel. It's now at its peak; drink 1999-2000.
