Haan Viognier

Cracka Review

Nose: Very dominate in tropical fruit aromas and balanced well with hints of citrus and florals.

Colour: The deep colour gives great indication of the richness of this wine, and there is an explosion of fruit flavours from the front to the end of the palate. These fruit flavours are complexed by an intense honeysuckle character which persists throughout the wine. A crisp acidity perfectly finishes off this wine.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Mouthfilling and rich, verging on too much so, but giving the character many lack; peach and apricot fruit; slightly congested finish.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Strong varietal fruit; yellow peach, apricot, fruit pastille and honeysuckle; almost too much of a good thing.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; the moderately intense bouquet shows clear varietal character with honeysuckle and blossom aromas, characters which come through on the palate, which has good length and grip yet avoids the phenolic trap.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium to full yellow-green; rich, complex dried fruit/pastille varietal character on the bouquet smooths through to a palate with considerable viscosity and richness at the centre, tinged with apricot; a big, bold style with sweetness (probably simply varietal fruit and alcohol) quite evident.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Light yellow-green; the aroma is very authentic, with that elusive fruit pastille and blossom character of the variety. The palate is likewise true to variety, both in terms of its richness and depth and in terms of the pastille and spice flavours. Overall, the wine does show some warmth from the alcohol. All in all, one of the best Viogniers yet produced from Australia.
