Hahndorf Hill Pinot Grigio

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Quartz-white; has an uncommon degree of intensity and length to the palate with mandarin, fresh ginger and pear all contributing; finishes with a zesty burst of citrussy acidity. Grigio doesnÍt come much better.

Another solid grigio from this Adelaide Hills producer, this shows a charming light perfume and plenty of gently spiced pear and white-nectarine fruit, making for very attractive drinking. The palate's nicely cut, with crisp, fresh nectarine flavour and a lingering, upbeat finish. Great balance here.

Has a fragrant and strongly varietal bouquet of pear and warm spice; the vibrant palate adding a slice of lemon; top-end grigio.

The savoury edge on this crisp, cool grigio makes for slightly more serious contemplation than the average simple wines we see so much of. Think pear skin, glace pear and gentle fresh-baked biscuity complexity. Showcases the potential for this style in the Adelaide Hills.

Vibrant, tropical, passionfruit aromas, almost sauvignon blanc-like, and a fuller-style palate that's long and fresh, with everything in perfect balance.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A happy discovery of my extensive search for benchmark wines, this super-attractive grigio style delivers plenty of nectarine and stone fruit aromas, yellow peach, pears and gentle spices. The palate's immaculately textured and dishes out plenty of nectarine fruit flavour, with enough acidity to hold impressive shape. There's a lot to like about this style.

Delicate floral bouquet with a savoury edge, and a fresh, zesty, lemony palate. Great food wine.

Ripe pear and a touch of spice on the bouquet; good concentration and texture, with a crisp and punchy finish to the palate

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Has above-average intensity and varietal character, offering pear, musk, apple and spice, with good acidity and length.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Excellent mouthfeel and balance a major plus, likewise a twist of lemony acidity; an impressive example of an unimpressive variety.
