Hamelin Bay Five Ashes Reserve Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Ray Jordan (2012 Vintage) says
A racy style of SSB with the strength of the sauvignon blanc supported with some nice semillon aromatics. Tropical with grassy edges to it. Retains its fresh zippy mouth feel with that long profile a feature. Crunchy and delightful current drinking.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Vivid hue; a pungent and herbaceous personality of green nettle, pea pod and straw; the palate is taut and racy, with acidity the dominant character; certainly fresh and refreshing; the extremely dry finish may challenge some.

A lively wine with a mix of herb, grass, lemon and gooseberry; a fine, tight palate.

Some reduction issues, though less than with the Sauvignon Blanc, partly overcome by the drive of semillon through to a long, lingering finish.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
A potent and powerful wine, the semillon driving the considerable length and line. Overall, great mouthfeel.

Ray Jordan (2003 Vintage) says
This cool climate area really makes this blend zing. This is a tight crisp beauty full of power though slightly austere fruit. There is an underlying power on the palate with the dusty tropical fruits and subtle grassiness filling the mouth with flavour. Quality wine.
