Hamelin Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

You want a savvy choice in drinking? Then jump on this fine, aromatic white from Hamelin Bay. It’s just what we look for in a Sauvignon Blanc and a little bit different to the kiwi style most of us are used to. The Magaret River Sauvignon Blanc is certainly tropical with passionfruit and citrus but the plate is a bit more refined. Full of stonefruit and citrus flavours, it’s bracingly fresh with zesty, crunchy acids.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Pale straw appearance with green tinges.

Bouquet: Aromas of passionfruit, lime and kiwi fruit sorbet.

Palate: The palate has a sweet core of lychee and passionfruit. This wine has a punchy mid palate finishing with extraordinary length of flavour and a focussed dry crisp finish.

Serving Suggestion: Enjoy with Roast Salmon, Tarragon and Caper Pangrattato.

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
Captured at the perfect moment, the cool, southerly Karridale district of Margaret River produces flattering citrus, stonefruits and guava flavours with texture and mouthfeel enhanced with a touch of oak.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
A slightly controversial wine that won the trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc at the Adelaide Wine Show '09 notwithstanding its faintly sweaty bouquet; it came romping home thanks to its intense and very long palate, the finish clean and crisp.

Very fine, reserved bouquet; great line and length to palate, with lemony acidity; fresh as a daisy.
