Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This GSM offering from Geoff Hardy is at the slightly more elegant end of the Grenache-dominant scale. It shows lots of spicy red fruits and dried mixed herbs on the nose, along with a sniff of black pepper. The palate is medium to fuller-bodied, with juicy raspberry flavours, friendly tannins, poised acidity, and a juicy, spiced finish. It's good value for this style of wine, and would be great with a lamb casserole.

Winemaker's Notes

The Hand Crafted GSM is the perfect synergy of the three varieties Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre. This popular Rhone style blend stays true to form with its soft berry fruits and spicy finish.

Consisting predominantly of Grenache, this wine offers aromas of strawberries, raspberries, rose petals and sweeter red lolly characters with hints of spice and dried herbs.

The palate is round and juicy with upfront berry aromas as well as lifted cherry and plum with a peppery finish.

For a perfect match, pair this wine with Peking Duck and plum sauce to see how these flavours come to life!

While the GSM is drinking really well now, it can also be cellared for 6 to 8 years.

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
A 70/22/18% blend from McLaren Vale, eerily close to the '10 version, loudly but melodiously proclaiming its Rhone blend, and its McLaren Vale origin: a parade of fragrant red fruits, splashes of chocolate, ripe, fine tannins and overall balance in a medium-bodied framework. Delicious stuff.
