Cracka Review

Savagnin is the grape formerly named as Albarino and here Geoff Hardy and team have tapped in to the textural and flavoursome classic Spanish Albarino style. All you need now is a big plate full of seafood paella to accompany this!

Winemaker's Notes

Savagnin is a very curious Southern European variety very closely related to Traminer (it is know also as White Traminer). It’s renowned more for ‘flor’ sherry styles of wine where it is picked very late in the season. In recent years it is more often being made into dry white table wine and shows a multi layered flavor spectrum with excellent length and good aging characteristics.

The Savagnin exudes playful elegance with its fruity confectionary apple, ripe melon, kiwi and banana aromas. A lengthy palate and full mouth feel is the perfect ending to this wine.

Try it with tempura zucchini flowers stuffed with goats cheese and chives.

Even within the confines of the easy growing conditions of Langhorne Creek, savagnin manages to keep a fine of gently mouth-watering fruit, then a textured, structured finish. Well worth a look.
