Here’s a hand picked wine that’s come all the way from Chile. It’s made with the lesser-found Carmenere grape that originated in Bordeaux and was thought to be extinct but turned up in Chile. It’s closely related to Cabernet in some respects; thick skinned with big tannins and making for a medium to full bodied red. On the nose there are lots of red fruit and smoky tobacco aromas with hints of vanilla before a palate of vibrant fruit, generous tannins and clean acids. A savoury/sweet style, that would suit most red meat dishes.
Handpicked produces fine wines from the premium regions of the world. Each wine style expresses individual characteristics particular to grape and region
The Handpicked Carmenère presents beautifully to the EYE with a deep red colour and shades of violet. On the NOSE, it has intense notes of red fruit, tobacco and cassis that are perfectly accompanied by subtle hints of vanilla. The PALATE is full bodied, very fresh and concentrated with a perfect balance between the red fruit, vanilla and chocolate.
