Rob Geddes MW (2010 Vintage) says
Very ripe black berry fruit aromas with subtle savoury smoked meat charcuterie edges. The flavours are ripe and vivid with cherry and black berry and finished by fine tannins. The acidity is relatively high making this a good food wine.

The earlier vintages really do show how elegant Heathcote can be without high alcohol. This offers an elegant style with nice liquorice and mineral aromas medium body and long finish.

Searingly intense, spicy and minty Heathcote shiraz cloaked by firm, fine but slightly raw-edged tannins. Its deep expression of cassis, blueberry, blackberry and dark plum flavour has a spicy backing of creamy vanilla oak, cloves and cinnamon, mineral and menthol, while it is beginning to reveal some sweet leathery development. It finishes long, firm and minty.

Powerful, medium- to full-bodied wine with considerable extract and savoury tannins; does need a touch more mid-palate fruit for higher points.

Deep colour; a powerful wine, full of black fruits and, as yet, formidable tannins; patience will be rewarded, for the wine is in balance.

A regional blend of several vineyard parcels, showing savoury blue fruits and purple berries, the oak's a little dusty and there's sweet spice complexity below, gently meaty too. Tannins are commanding and savoury, some steely minerals wound tight - this will age neatly.

Dark and spicy, with a dusty bouquet of dark berries, plums and chocolate backed by cedary oak and suggestions of cloves and cinnamon. Slightly raw, its long, lean and dark-fruited palate opens up with fresh flavours of blackberries and cassis, delivering a pleasing length of fruit backed by slightly edgy tannins. It finishes savoury, with a ferrous, mineral aspect. Quite elegant and harmonious.

Great colour; a powerful, rich and focused array of lush black fruits in full-on regional style; does not go over the top.

Clean and supple; medium-bodied; attractive array of soft black fruits; good tannin and oak extract.
