Happs Fortis Vintage Port

Cracka Review

Colour: Full dense red, almost opaque, with a youthful purple rim.

Nose: Sweet pot of stewed fruit with hints of liquorice and forest floor.

Palate: A rich wine with great flavour intensity and ample volume through mid palate. Despite a formidable structure the wine has grace, freshness finesse and impressive length of flavour. A wine of generosity that will nourish your essential.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Intense, deep purple; it's been too long since I last tasted one of Happs Vintage Port style wines; this is brilliant, almost dry, yet intense and very well balanced. 500 ml.

Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says
This is a superb example of a vintage port style. It's made with three classic port varieties Touriga, Tinta Cao and Souzao. The result is a wine of rich intensity but less like the typical Aussie liqueur style. The spirit is excellent complementing the concentrated fruit. Very long and well framed palate with the lifted spirit taking the wine to a long finish.

Intense red-purple; shows Happs' long experience with this vintage port style; lots of black fruits, the baume not too high; savoury, fine tannins.
