Bottle-fermented, with several years on yeast lees, and made under the direction of sparkling wine maestro Ed Carr. It is sourced from the Upper Yarra Valley and Tumbarumba regions, arguably the best on the mainland. Bright green-gold, and, while obviously has bottle-developed complexity, there is a really attractive juicy well-spring of white stone fruit on the palate and a little yeast-derived brioche to add a final touch.

Very much more restrained and elegant than the masculine 2004 vintage, with a delicate, floral perfume of citrus fruit and acacia, with fresh yeasty undertones. It's long, supple and refined, delivering a gentle, persistent and fluffy presence of citrus and melon flavour refreshingly punctuated by lively acids.

This multi-cool-region blend has a fine reputation already, and it's well deserved indeed. The nose has sweet brioche and red fruits, some complex mushroom and nuts too. The palate heads into nougat territory with fine, bright acidity and a rich red fruit flavour, some red apple, and fresh zesty acid crunching through the finish. Brilliant!

The grapes were sourced from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and Tumbarumba, and the wine was bottle-fermented. It is still a pale, bright, straw-green, and is commensurately fresh, with red berry and citrus flavours attractively balanced. The finish is long and clean, and it is no surprise the wine won four gold medals )albeit from lesser shows) during '07.

Covered in wine-show bling, this vintage wine truly looks the part, boasting cool-climate style sourced from vineyards in Victoria and Tasmania. Honeysuckle and sweet white flowers on the nose, crisp acidity, a fine creamy texture and the right price all hit the sweet spot. Brilliant.
