James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition 2013
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Bottle-fermented, with several years on yeast lees, and made under the direction of sparkling wine maestro Ed Carr. It is sourced from the Upper Yarra Valley and Tumbarumba regions, arguably the best on the mainland. Bright green-gold, and, while obviously has bottle-developed complexity, there is a really attractive juicy well-spring of white stone fruit on the palate and a little yeast-derived brioche to add a final touch.
James Halliday's Top 100 wines of 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
Very much more restrained and elegant than the masculine 2004 vintage, with a delicate, floral perfume of citrus fruit and acacia, with fresh yeasty undertones. It's long, supple and refined, delivering a gentle, persistent and fluffy presence of citrus and melon flavour refreshingly punctuated by lively acids.
The Australian Wine Annual
Nick Stock (2004 Vintage) says
This multi-cool-region blend has a fine reputation already, and it's well deserved indeed. The nose has sweet brioche and red fruits, some complex mushroom and nuts too. The palate heads into nougat territory with fine, bright acidity and a rich red fruit flavour, some red apple, and fresh zesty acid crunching through the finish. Brilliant!
The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010 2009
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
The grapes were sourced from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and Tumbarumba, and the wine was bottle-fermented. It is still a pale, bright, straw-green, and is commensurately fresh, with red berry and citrus flavours attractively balanced. The finish is long and clean, and it is no surprise the wine won four gold medals )albeit from lesser shows) during '07.
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Has a particularly harmonious mouthfeel, and likewise excellent length of flavour; delicate stone fruit and small red berry nuances; perfectly judged finish. Tasmania/Yarra Valley/Pyrenees.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Nick Stock (2003 Vintage) says
Covered in wine-show bling, this vintage wine truly looks the part, boasting cool-climate style sourced from vineyards in Victoria and Tasmania. Honeysuckle and sweet white flowers on the nose, crisp acidity, a fine creamy texture and the right price all hit the sweet spot. Brilliant.
Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 2008
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Bright, fresh, crisp and lively; a mix of citrus, spice and strawberry with creamy malolactic and gentle yeast autolysis characters woven through.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Super-fine and elegant, bringing together pear, apple and brioche aromas and flavours; impeccably balanced, it has the long, clean finish and aftertaste which is the hallmark of all fine sparkling wines.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
A highly aromatic and tangy bouquet, then a very fine and focused palate, seeming much younger than is the case, delicately dry finish.
To 2013
Australian Wine Companion 2009
James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Pale straw-green; tight, slightly nutty/bready malolactic and lees aromas are followed by a gentle, quite delicate yet complex palate, with cashew and citrus playing counterpoints on the clean finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; a complex, toasty bouquet, reflecting four years on yeast lees, then a fresh, very lively citrussy palate, hints of strawberry and a very long, intense yet delicate finish. 4 trophies and 12 gold medals including at least one gold medal at every capital city wine show.
Australian Wine Companion 2003 2002
James Halliday (1994 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green, the bouquet is smooth, with a nice touch of bready/creamy autolysis, followed by a flavoursome but elegant citrus and melon-flavoured palate. A fine, gently crisp finish balances the mid-palate flavour.
