WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Nice drink with lovely varietal fruit/oak balance and good acid level with a toasty finish.
Winestate Magazine, Mar/Apr
WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Licorice and spice and all things nice! A well-integrated savoury wine thats full of flavour.
Winestate 20082009
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2005 Vintage) says
It tastes a little tired and a bit too rustic. Take a gulp and fine notes of corn, leather, game and dried herbs; take a sniff and find added notes of tar and spice. You can't knock the complexity of it; there are plenty of flavours here. It has a reasonable amount of oomph too. But in terms of drinking pleasure, it doesn't provide a lot.
The Big Red Wine Book 2010/11 2010
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
An unresolved mix of cosmetic/jujube fruit and more savoury/olive components; needs more structure to sort out the struggle.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; dark fruits, with a hint of jam in the mix; robust tannins, rustic style.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet is distinctly varietal, with an array of gamey/ savoury characters, earth and olive becoming stronger on the palate. Barossa Valley Merlot doesn't often deliver such strongly accented Merlot.
