Haselgrove Vincent's Breeze Grenache Shiraz Viognier
I’m going to be a little bit controversial here but I reckon that much, although not all, of McLaren Vale is better suited to Grenache than Shiraz. Why? Because the Summers really can be baking on this peninsular just South of Adelaide and Grenache loves the baking weather; positively thrives on it!
So here we have a generous Grenache Shiraz blend with some tasty spicy red fruit flavours, and even a little bit of Red Tulip choc-mint. Now there is a great wine, main course and dessert all in one!
Colour: Deep red with purple hues
Nose: Warm cherry and quince pie with hints of vanilla, allspice and blackberries.
Palate: Generous fruity palate showing undertones of chocolate with a soft and smooth finish. The wine shows great fruit length.
Serving: This wine is to be enjoyed immediately although short term cellaring may reward the careful with increased integration and complexity of fruit. This wine could be enjoyed with a cracked pepper steak, a lamb roast or even a spicy thai curry.
