Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
A very composed and compelling nose that has plenty of ripe dark fruit; great lift here, and a clear viognier boost firing on all cylinders. The palate is rich and fleshy: there s plum and blackberry here, great drive, really satisfying.

A wine that is really handsomely in stride in 2010, this fragrant Stonewell shiraz has a deep sense of ripeness and yet doesn't overstep the mark: black fruits, complex meat fragrance and a clear sense of viognier show through. The palate's densely sheeted, layered and juicy, delivering dark-plum and blackberry flavour, some tar and long, sturdy, supple tannins.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
The more fragrant of Alex Head's duo of Barossa shiraz wines, it's a blend of shiraz viognier that has a distinct spice-laden nose, cinnamon and clove, licorice and summer berry fruits - smells super-ripe and quite lifted. This Stonewell fruit delivers a rich, rounded palate with balled-up, fine tannins and berry pudding flavours. Youthful, ripe and unmistakeably rooted in the Barossa.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Dense purple-crimson; has a voluminous bouquet and very luscious palate of dark berry fruits shot through with wafts of spice and pepper; tannins and oak are in appropriate balance, indeed balance is the heart of the wine.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Sourced from the Stonewell district, this is certainly the most fragrant of the 2007 Head wines, showing bright blackberry fruit and terrific purity. Viognier skins are included for added lift and brightness and it works well -the wine is open and ready to go, very primary and immediate. With licorice, jubes, cassis and pastilles, this glides through the palate on fine, even tannins.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Crimson-red; a fragrant bouquet with a mix of red fruits, spice and oak; the medium-bodied palate has very good length and balance, with ripe tannins and oak; 198 cases made.
