Heathcote Estate Grenache Noir

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
In Australia, grenache noir is simply a fancy name for grenache, but then this is a fancy Grenache. The result from a top vintage such as '12 is vibrant raspberry and rich cherry fruit, fine tannins and very good length. Most importantly, it doesn't have confection/Turkish Delight characters on its lingering back-palate and aftertaste.

Bright but light hue; has an extra degree of conviction to the spicy components in the long, well-balanced palate; nice wine, but I'm not sure why they bother.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
So-called in some parts of Europe to distinguish it from grenache blanc; the wine also has 7% syrah which has come in handy. Jasper Hill has also placed its stamp of approval on the variety, but I am far from convinced it is worthy of the best soil of Heathcote. Colour and flavour are a given, and the wine avoids cosmetic/lolly characters.
