Heggies Vineyard Eden Valley Riesling

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Heggies has always been constantly good, and great value, and this 2014 version is no different. Made in a dry style, it shows lovely aromas of lemons, limes, wet stone and jasmine florals on the nose, whilst the palate is light, tight and zippy with citrus and ginger spice flavours, frisky acidity, and a bright, lip-smacking finish that would see this match well with sushi and sashimi. Stick a few bottles in the the cellar and watch it develop toast and honey characters over the next 7 to 10 years.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine is a pale straw colour with a green tinge, showing fresh and alluring aromatics of citrus blossom and lemon zest. The palate is fresh and crisp, with white flower aromas and a lemon drop acidity progressing to a tight, Eden Valley Riesling finish. Enjoy with freshly shucked oysters.

Campbell Mattinson (2015 Vintage) says
Lots of spritz. Lots of perfume. Highly aromatic style with red apple, lime rind and lime blossom flavours. Pretty. Almost textural. And definitely elegant in the way it slips through the mouth. Will drink well young. Great option for this coming summer. Bring it on.

Light lemon-yellow colour with a soft, slightly developed bouquet of lemon peel and citrus pith aromas. There are fresh green herb notes and lime, almost tonic water characters on palate. A delicate and racy style of Riesling, which finishes with the faintest trace of grip. Lovely stuff.

Picked Mar 1-20. Attesting to the size of the vineyard and winemaking decisions. The balance and conjunction between the apple/citrus blossom aromas, the dancing citrus flavours and the crisp acidity are exactly as they should be. Drink now by all means, but do hide a few bottles from yourself.
