Helm Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Ken Helm has spent over 30 vintages pioneering wines from the Canberra district and he’s one of the rare few that specialises in Cabernet citing that the climate and soil is similar to that of Bordeaux. We think this is a great example of cool climate Cabernet from a region that is not known for producing this variety. It shows red berry fruit and a whisp of oak before a palate of strawberry, earth and tannins.

Jeremy Oliver (2009 Vintage) says
An assertive, rustic Cru Bourgeois style with strength, structure and length of fruit. Its minty, meaty and musky bouquet of cassis, redcurrants, raspberries and cedar/ vanilla oak reveals nuances of briar and dried herbs. It's polished and smoky, with a lively presence of blackberries and briar supported by crunchy drying tannins before quite a savoury finish, with minty and herbal aspects. It reveals with more fruit sweetness with aeration.
