Henri Bourgeois Sancerre Le MD Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

A stunning single vineyard Sancerre this one from one of the most renowned producers, what sets this apart is just how much minerality and crystal clear perfection of expression it shows. From an excellent vintage this is a classic wine indeed.

Winemaker's Notes

The delicate tropical fruit aromas and clean mineral and fruity palate testify to Le Mont Dames pedigree as an exceptional wine from one of the finest slopes in the Sancerre appellation. This very concentrated wine expresses its strong personality. With three to five years of bottle aging, the wine gains roundness, richness and complexity.

Terroir: "Le M.D" is a very steep south and south-east facing slope in Chavignol, composed of Kimmeridgian Marl (a soil made up of fossilized seashells and clay). Viticulture: During the harvest, only the very ripest grapes are handpicked Vinification: The must is cold-racked to naturally clarify and fermentation takes place in thermo regulated stainless steel tanks at 15 to 18°C. The wine is then allowed to slowly mature on its fine lees.

Description: Clean mineral and concentrated testify to Le Mont Dames pedigree as an exceptional wine from the finest slope in the Sancerre appellation.
