Henschke Julius Eden Valley Riesling
Henschke continue to amaze us with their broad portfolio of wines each one showing immaculate detail thanks to careful viticulture and winemaking. This Riesling is a mark of respect to ancestor Julius who was a sculptor and artist. And what a beautifully sculpted Riesling this is, showing lime zest and spice as well as fragrant florals. The palate is limey and zingy with good texture and a crisp, clean finish. Some fresh oysters or delicate blue swimmer crab would harmonise well with this wine.
expert reviews about
Henschke Julius Eden Valley Riesling
2012 represents an outstanding vintage for Julius. Stephen Henschke suggests that in ten years time it will look much like the 2002 does now. There’s no question it will go down among the longest-lived under this label yet, thanks to a crystalline shard of lime juice that penetrates its core. High acidity defines a razor-sharp line of high voltage energy, elevating its lime blossom perfume and defining a finely poised finish of chalky minerality.2017-2032Wine Taste Special Edition 87
Straw-green; lemon competes on equal ground with lime on the blossom-filled bouquet and brightly framed palate, slatey/minerally acidity balancing all that has gone before. A long future in store.2027James Halliday's top value wines $20 & under
A very compete, stylish riesling of tremendous shape and elegance. Deeply perfumed, it's scented with white flowers, lavender, lime juice, pear and green apple skin backed by chalky nuances of spice and lemon rind. Long, gentle and tightly focused around a dusty undercarriage, its piercing flavours of citrus and fresh apple finish with clarity and brightness, with a racy cut of limey acid.2024-2030The Australian Wine Annual 2013
One forgets, sometimes, just how good Henschke's trio of Riesling releases is. Then a wine like this, pristine, pure, citrus-meets-slatey, concentrated and so finely wrought, comes along and reinforces their excellence. A vivid, very fine example.Australia's Wine Business Magazine February
This is one of the best of many examples proving the swings of the cool vintage prevailed over the roundabouts of disease in the well-managed riesling vineyards. Light straw-green; a perfumed wine of outstanding texture and structure that carry the cascade of lime and lime zest fruit through to the long, imperious finish. Great things in store.to 2018Halliday's Top 100 Aussie Wines 2011

Named after ancestor artist and sculptor Julius Henschke, this comes from a single-vineyard site, planted on sandy loam over gravel and bedrock, ideal for white grapes. A near-perfect evocation of the Eden Valley, with an almost wanton display of lime, lemon and a whiff of passionfruit; the line and length are of the highest quality, the citrussy acidity of the finish likewise.

A flowery bouquet with hints of herb and spice, then a tight but very long palate with impressive finesse to the lime-accented palate, leaving the mouth fresh.Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
A striking wine; absolutely classic aromas and flavours with a mix of lime zest, leaf and a hint of spice, all tightly interwoven.Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
Has the Henschke riesling stamp on both bouquet and palate; tighter and more intense than the Lenswood; similar generosity to the regional lime juice flavours.Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
