Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Retains excellent hue; a traditional full-bodied Barossa Valley style, with fruit from very old, dry-grown vines swathed in a generous amount of oak on the mid-palate, yet backing off on the well-structured finish. The great vintage shines through.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Retains good colour and hue; has quite remarkable finesse and structure for this alcohol level, the explanation lying in the superb quality of the old dry-grown grapes (and sensitive winemaking) purchased from Ross Kalleske every year.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Strong colour; powerful, concentrated black fruits with bitter chocolate, spice and earth; still a little locked up, despite the cork closure.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Deeply saturated colour; concentrated but supple dark fruits with touches of dark chocolate and licorice; ripe tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium to full purple-red, bright and clear; dense, clean, dark berry/ licorice fruit and integrated oak on the bouquet flows into a smooth and supple palate with almost creamy tannins and quality oak.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; the bouquet has concentrated dark fruit mixed with dark chocolate; oak is no doubt there, but you cannot see it. The palate has deep, structured dark berry fruit flavours and fine, persistent tannins. Fruit-driven, and while enormously rich and powerful, is not the least bit extractive.
