Cracka Review

Polish Hill River may well be ground zero for great Riesling in Australia and with this wine they've nailed the fleshy-yet-dry style, both crisp and refreshing but with a richness that is rather impressive too. Great stuff.

Winemaker's Notes

Riesling grapes for this wine are from the Wellman's low yielding single vineyard in the Polish Hill sub-region of the Clare Valley. Following some of the best possible growing conditions in 2013, the fruit was hand picked at optimum flavour ripeness.

Appearance:Pale lime green with straw hues.

Nose: Lime with perfumed blossom, citrus zest and hints of green apple.

Palate: Clean, crisp and fresh varietal Riesling flavours of lime citrus with hints of grapefruit. Juicy middle palate balanced precisely with lovely mineral acidity, typical of Clare Valley Riesling.

Food: Asian food or simply on its own.

Cellaring: Drink now or beyond seven years with appropriate cellaring.

Alcohol: 11.0%

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Solid citrus aromas lead logically into a rich, full-flavoured palate; more power than finesse despite moderate alcohol.
