Holm Oak Pinot Gris

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This tasty little PG out of Tassie is what lunchtime was made for. There are plenty of nashi pear and florals on the nose with hints of citrus and dairy. The palate is lighter and dry with more of those pear and creamy flavours, zesty acidity, and a crunchy, slightly savoury finish. Try it with some Thai fishcakes.

Winemaker's Notes

Winemaking techniques have enabled us to achieve a wine that has beautiful lifted pear and jasmine characters on the nose with some hints of creamy, leesy characters underneath. Whilst the powerful palate is packed with flavour, it also has added complexity and weight as a result of the wild barrel ferment The wine finishes with lovely crisp natural acidity.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Stands out like a beacon when tasted amid Australian mainland Pinot Gris with its ultra-fresh, bracing and penetrating pear, apple and citrus flavours which spear through to the long, lingering finish. This is absolutely not boring.

White quartz colour; the bouquet is clean but subdued, the palate another thing altogether, with pronounced grainy pear fruit lengthened by citrussy acidity. Has real character and attitude.

Rose petals, limes and citrus on the nose, and an acid-driven palate with sweet flavours.
