Winemaker's Notes

Brilliant, bright and water white the wine displays intense aromas of fresh passionfruit and citrus with hints of blackcurrant and light herbaceous notes. The palate is medium bodied with bright, fresh fruit flavours and mineral acidity. Flavours of passionfruit, guava, pear and citrus are complemented by layers of texture.

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
Uncomplicated and assertive, this intensely flavoured, pure and focudes sauvignon reveals crystal-clear aromas of gooseberries, honeydew melon, passionfruit and a round, mouthfilling palate whose bright fruit and minerality deliver lengh, freshness and persistence aplenty.

Pale quartz-green; a tale of three parts: passionfruit aroma and flavour; texture from lees contact; and racy acidity. It all adds up.

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A delicate, closed and nutty bouquet of lychees, gooseberries, melon and dusty green olives reveals a yeasty, faintly cheesy aspect. Long, smooth and even, it's reserved and almost closed, becoming more tropical and passionfruit-like towards the finish. Backed by nuances of vanilla oak, it's creamy almost to the point of chewiness, but wraps up neatly with some clean acidity.

Jeremy Oliver (2009 Vintage) says
Funky, smoky and mineral, but with sufficient focus on its crystalline presence of lightly herbaceous aromas of white flowers, gooseberry, melon and citrus fruit. It's long, smooth and luscious, with a tangy, translucent brightness of pristine fruit underpinned by dusty, mineral aspects. finishing with length, shape and bright, citrus acids.

Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Piercing scents of passionfruit and tropical fruit with undertones of minerals and a hint of herbaceousness precede a juicy, long and rather smoky palate whose grassy gooseberry and tropical flavours finish with lively acids. Possibly slightly smoke-affected, so drink early.

Has a vibrantly crisp, fresh and spotlessly clean bouquet; the precisely focused and long palate provides more of the passionfruit and herbal notes promised by the bouquet.

Fragrant and pure, and as fresh as a daisy; tropical fruit balanced by more herbaceous components and lively acidity; three deserved gold medals (Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne '07).

Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
A luscious, smooth and creamy sauvignon blanc whose clean and savoury palate is considerably more appealing than its rather sweaty, grassy aromas of slightly cooked gooseberries and melon. It's very intense, surprisingly broad and juicy, but ties together towards its rather dusty, nutty and chalky finish of lingering fruit and lemony acids.

Fragrant passionfruit and gooseberry aromas (no sweatiness or reduction); lively, fresh and zesty palate, with a long finish.

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Fresh aromas of gooseberries and citrus fruit with herbal undertones precede a broad, rather generous palate of juicy forward flavours and some minerality. It finishes with some briney notes, but lacks genuine length.

Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
A highly acidic sauvignon blanc whose lightly herbaceous aromas of passionfruit, gooseberries and tropical fruits reveal a faint sweatiness. Its essence like palate of concentrated, almost exaggerated varietal fruit is tightly punctuated by a rather brisk and overt acidity. Would rate even higher if its acids were better integrated.

Very pale colour; tight, reserved, clean and balanced, but needs more fruit.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Delicate aromas of gooseberries and passionfruit reveal lightly grassy, herbal undertones. The palate is slightly oily and brightly flavoured with notes of cassis and tropical fruits, before becoming finer and winding quite tightly around clean and refreshing acids. Finishes dry, with pleasing shape, structure and lingering minerality.

Jeremy Oliver (2003 Vintage) says
Refreshingly honest and uncompromisingly varietal sauvignon blanc with a vibrant juicy and grassy aroma of passionfruit and cassis whose pungency borders on the sweaty. Intense and forward, round and almost oily, its generous passionfruit and herbaceous flavours finish clean and dry with lemony acids.

Ray Jordan (2003 Vintage) says
Has set the benchmark for this variety in recent years. The slightly smokey background plays a nice support for the brilliant passionfruit and mineral characters that seem to emerge from this area. Racy, lively palate with a tight long profile. This is a sauvignon blanc with complexity and interest. Comes from a site, which defies normal logic for this variety, yet it produces outstanding fruit

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; the bouquet is aromatic, albeit with a hint of reduction over a gronndswell of exotic, tropical fruit; as anticipated, the palate tightens up and throws off most of the reduction of the bouquet, with a long fruit carry across the tongue.
