Howard Vineyard Amos Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is the top shelf wine from Howard Vineyard, and it hails from a single vineyard as you would expect. It smells deep and dense, with brooding dark berries, coffee, chocolate and toast lurking beneath the surface. The palate is more medium-bodied, with generous licks of mocha oak, friendly tannins, and a decent, sauntering length that waltzes it's way to the back-palate and into the sunset. It will live for a few years, but decant it and serve in decent size glass and she'll be right.

Winemaker's Notes

Our Flagship wine. It’s not every day that you’ll come across a wine of this stature, flavour and quality. Only the very best fruit in great vintages is selected for our Amos range. Our location as one of the most South Easterly vineyards gives us a hot - cool climate site perfect for powerful yet delicate reds. Howard’s Nairne Vineyard is transitioning to a completely red site as a result of our unique microclimate.

The deep inky colour is followed by a powerful nose of blackberry, mocha and earth characters. This follows through on the incredible, lengthy palate which is balanced perfectly with seasoned oak and subtle tannins. We select our finest barrels from hundreds to give a rich, smooth mouthfeel and lingering flavour.

With patience and will power, cellaring this wine will reward greatly for years and years to come.
