Cracka Review

If you want a guaranteed crowd-pleasing white for the summer months, the Fishcage is just the blend you need. It’s the combination of fresh young Semillon and the tropical fruit weight of Sauvignon Blanc that makes it such an agreeable proposition, even more so with a plate of prawns. It’s nicely juxtaposed between citrus, lemon pith and grassy aromas before a mouth-watering palate of citrus fruits and clean acids. It finishes long and refreshing.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright straw with green hues. Aromas of nettle, lime pith and lemon sorbet. The palate has a mouth-watering though gently soft combination of citrus zest and fine fruit acid. The flavour and acid line are long and finish crisp and fresh.

Hungerford Hill Fishcage Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This has a charming, waxy Hunter lanolin coming from the semillon - it's really hooked into the regional character. The palate's crisp and bright, with tangy lemon and tropical flavours from start to finish - crisp, easy-Drinking white. Reliable balance.

Light, spicy nose and bright, fresh, fruit salad palate with racy acidity.

Plenty of fruit in this value white from the Hunter that looks smart in its new livery. Citrusy semillon, seasoned with sauvignons tropicals; good acid crunch, but approachable all the same.

Lovely varietal definition on a clean, crisp and lifted nose. Great balance of lively fruit flavours with a good level of acidity to match.

Exceedingly pale; grassy herbal citrus flavours are in a semillon spectrum, although there are background touches of gooseberry.

Pale straw-green; clean and fragrant, with lively herb, grass, lime and tropical notes; good structure. A lateral-thinking bargain blend of Currency Creek Semillon/Tumbarumba Sauvignon Blanc.

Recently, a British woman married a male dolphin she had been visiting at a resort in Israel for some fifteen years (perhaps that was always her porpoise). Its name is Cindy, and it is possibly now the most confused living thing on the planet. One hopes that they celebrated with Billecart-Salmon. Yes, it's tenuous link to a wine called Fishcage but I love the dolphinwedding story. And I love this easy-drinking blend

Light straw-green; extremely lively, tangy, lemony flavours through to a long, dry finish. Exceptional value.
