Hungerford Hill Higher Octave Tumbarumba Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Hungerford Hill can wisely hang their Chardonnay reputation on the cool climate of Tumbarumba for contributing to their Gold Medal haul. This wine has amassed four Gold medals and five Silver medals so far and is still showing wonderfully with a bit of bottle age. Chardonnay intensity on the nose, with peach and nectarine to the fore, as well as a core of citrus that carries it through the finish. Complex and elegant with a pure fruit focus of white peach and grapefruit. A guaranteed crowd-pleaser and even better with a classic roast chicken stuffed with preserved lemon and thyme.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale straw green colouring with aromas white peach and nectarine and hints of citrus. An individual and elegant wine of great finesse that displays wonderfully integrated white peach, nectarine and grapefruit that harmonise perfectly.

Hungerford Hill Higher Octave Tumbarumba Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Gleaming, bright straw-green; has that typical finesse and intensity of Tumbarumba chardonnay, grapefruit, white peach and nectarine; the oak handling is sure, and a ritzy label design completes the package.
