Hungerford Hill Tumbarumba Pinot Gris

Cracka Review

Pale yellow with green tinges, this Pinot Gris immediately invites with lifted aromatic, five spice and herbal aromas intertwined with the characteristic varietal signature of nashi pears. Yet is goes beyond just simple fruitiness with added funky elements which add interesting notes such as macadamia nut and sour dough yeast. Precariously straddling between the Pinot Gris and Grigio styles with its rich round flavours and precise acid structure, this style works because it balances all of the elements: pear and white nectarine flavours, the subtle oak characters and funky wilder elements of smoke and bacon fat with a defined acid signature. This is an interesting, quirky and satisfying style of Pinot Gris.
