Huntington Estate Block 3 Mudgee Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Full red-purple; the three '09 Cabernets from Huntington Estate all demonstrate the ability of parts of Mudgee to produce wines with cool-climate varietal expression. As the flagship wine, and the most expensive of the three, it duly delivers as a powerful, savoury, black-fruited wine, with the type of tannin profile that is seldom found outside cabernet (nebbiolo etc exceptions).

Medium red-purple; a very good regional example of cabernet sauvignon; Mudgee can disappoint with cabernet, but here the gently earthy/spicy nuances to the mainframe of blackcurrant have worked well.

Attractive medium-bodied cabernet; a fragrant bouquet promises the gentle blackcurrant fruit, which is duly delivered on the palate; the oak and tannins are where they should be.

Good colour for age; more earth, briar and oak than the '06 give it a thoroughly regional profile; there is plenty of dark, black fruit a the core of a medium- to full-bodied wine
