Winemaker's Notes

Nose: Rich plums and spice.

Palate: Full flavoured ripe plums, hints of chocolate and soft, chewy tannins

Alcohol: 14%

This well respected noble red variety originated in the Rhone Valley where it is known as Syrah. In Australia, Shiraz has become the most planted red grape, renowned for its rich, spicy, mulberry-like flavours. The vine is strong growing with a tendency to spread. Grape bunches tend to be long; producing small to medium sized oval berries. A renowned Mitchelton specialty.

The vineyards for Imprint Cabernet Merlot are situated in regions renowned for classic red wine. Some of the fruit is sourced from the Goulburn Valley and Langhorne Creek where elegantly rich flavours develop through the combination of warm days and cooler nights. Such characteristics are finely balanced with fruit sourced from vineyards in the King Valley and Padthaway regions where leaner, more restrained and savoury characters are derived. The combination of the two provide distinctly varietal aromas and flavours.
