Innocent Bystander Pinot Rose

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Forget what you know about Rosé as the game plan has changed. It’s not the pink, confected leftover wine that the winery has no use for. No, Rosé now has heart and soul. Increasingly winemakers are experimenting with different grapes and producing drier, more savoury styles. This piece of pink perfection is made with Yarra Pinot and is an attractive salmon pink with vital raspberry and apple aromas before a palate of fairy floss, zesty citrus and nectarine. It’s brilliant with all manner of foods but try it with Indian for a taste sensation.

Winemaker's Notes

Nose: Freshly cut Braeburn apples. Strawberries and raspberries. Jasmine and rose petals and a touch of musk.

Palate: Meringue and fairy floss. Fresh nectarines and poached spiced fruits. Blood orange zest and pomegranates.

Food: Antipasto, Caprese salad with basil and olive oil. Fresh pasta with atlantic salmon and salmon roe. Aged Comte. Picnic baguette. Poached strawberries in crepes.

Innocent Bystander Reviews and Accolades

"A little extra sweetness works well in this ostensibly dry rose, but doesn't overwhelm the impression of a light, fine-boned, pale pink Pinot fruited wine." - 90 Points, Mike Bennie for WBM Wine 100, 2011

"No pinot character (for me) on the nose but it’s very fresh and attractive. Light but not weak in the mouth and very good quality." - 90 Points, Tony Keys for The Key Report, 2011

Innocent Bystander Pinot Rose

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
A light pink pinot rosé that has plenty of bright, perfumed strawberry fruit on the nose, some raspberry and a little bracken. The palate's all raspberry and musk flavour; gentle tannins here, quite dry, and twisting savoury through the finish. An each-way bet - should appeal to most.
