Invivo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here is a stonkingly good savvy out of Marlborough that reeks of quality. Atypical aromas of passionfruit, lemons, limes, dried herbs and gooseberries explode out if the glass, and onto the palate. It's all tied up in a neat bow with frisky acidity that leads to a dry, refreshing, limy finish. Some tempura prawns would be great with this over the next 2 to 3-years.

Winemaker's Notes

Tropical aromas, fresh sliced bell peppers and floral lime zest rise from the glass initially. This is well backed up by a vibrant, cutting fresh palate with deceptive power and concentration. Evidence of the lees contact adds a textural dimension to the focused palate and bouncing tropical fruit. This wine will develop in the bottle over time and its complexity will become more marked between sweet fruit spectrum and almost savory herbal notes.

Reviews and Accolades

"Stylishly presented flavours of pungent passionfruit, limes, tropical fruits and gooseberries are enhanced by fresh esters"
5 Stars - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

"Assertive, flavoursome wine with tangy gooseberry, green capsicum and a thread of passion fruit. Mouth-watering wine with juicy acidity driving a lengthy finish"
4 Stars - Bob Campbell MW

"Pristine and pure, the delicately fragrant bouquet shows flint, lime zest and herbaceous characters. It's focused and finely textured on the palate with lovely fruit concentration and a fabulous crisp finish. It's beautifully poised and mouth-watering"
91 Points - Wine Orbit

"Intense and zesty, this wine has a classic grassy, citrus aroma - vibrant and fresh, with added richness from some tropical fruitiness. We could pick the lees contact in both the aroma and palate. There is plenty of texture and that means superb palate weight. Bright citrus flavours, subtle grassiness and some perfectly balanced tropical fruitiness make this wine a winner"

Michael Cooper (2012 Vintage) says
Aromatic, with excellent intensity of melon, passionfruit and lime flavours, showing a touch of complexity and a long, dry (3.5 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Poised and rich, it offers great value

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
This is fresh, crisp and bright, showing plenty of fresh lime and passionfruit style - fragrant and enticing. The palate's supple and tastes of green mango and melon fruits. A soft finish, with gentle sugar use; passionfruit to close.

From an Auckland-based company, the 2010 vintage is a punchy, dry style from the Awatere Valley, lees-aged and stirred for three months. Pungently aromatic, it is incisive, ripely herbaceous, crisp and minerally, with a long finish. The 2011 vintage is also rich and refined, with finely balanced, slightly nettley flavours, minerally and tight, and impressive intensity, delicacy, harmony and length. A label to watch.

Lovely concoction of musk lollies, cut grass and lavender aromas. Tropical/lemony flavours create a sweet/sour palate.
