Ironwood Estate Reserve Porongurup Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Hand-picked, and barrel-fermented in French oak. Right from the slightly funky bouquet, this is a Chardonnay with attitude, balancing ripe stone fruit with pronounced acidity and, to a lesser degree, oak. Its one issue is that the reflection of that attitude equals a lack of finesse.

Straw-green; the wines of Porongurup, irrespective of the variety, have a special brightness and freshness to the fruit, giving this wine its mouth-watering mix of grapefruit and white peach, supported by restrained barrel fermentation characters

Attractive stone fruit aromas, entwined with some barrel ferment French oak, logically lead into a supple palate with some creamy lees contact notes.
