A single vineyard Shiraz from an organic McLaren Vale vineyard that is priced at very palatable levels? Yes please! There is much to get excited about this red produced by a little startup operation that could do good things. The wine too has that mid-palate richness that the Vale does so well, if in just a little lighter mould than normal!.
Sourced from the organic J&J single vineyard site on Rivers lane in the heart of the Mclaren Vale this is the first of many Rivers Lane series wines to be released.
The 2009/10 growing season was the best seen in over a decade. The long, even ripening period allowed the fruit to mature gradually and reach its ultimate ripeness and flavour potential.
Colour - Deep velvet and vibrant with youthful grace
Aromatics - A myriad of rich ripe red fruits with lashings of liquorice and soft dark chocolate open up to reveal an underlying complexity of seasoned oak and spice.
Palate - A flood of powerful flavours from front to back unveil the brooding ripe complexity of a hand crafted organic Mclaren Vale Shiraz. Layers of rhubarb, dark berries and plum combined with well structured tannin and oak to leave a lingering graceful finish.
Food - Rich gamey, roasted meat with all the finishings.
