James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Light colour, though still with a purple hue; spicy, cedary, foresty notes are in the background on the bouquet and palate alike, fine plum fruit to the fore.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The 2000 vintage of this Marlborough red is a supple, vibrantly fruity wine, only moderately concentrated and complex, but fresh and lively. The 2001 was matured in an equal split of new, one-year-old and two-year-old French oak barrels. Ruby-hued, smooth and berryish, it's a sweet-fruited wine with ripe strawberry and spice flavours, not intense but offering plenty of drink-young charm.
