James Estate Verdelho

Cracka Review

Verdelho is something of a Hunter Valley anachronism. It has a great pedigree hailing originally from the Madeira wines of Portugal and makes a highly aromatic white that suits Asian food brilliantly. This one from James Estate in the Upper Hunter Valley is full of tropical fruit flavours and zesty, upfront acids, before a persistent fruity finish. Pair it with a Pad Thai or Green Chicken curry.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: - Pale straw with green tinges

Nose: - Intense aromas of guava, paw paw and lime with hints of spice and ginger

Palate: - Medium bodied with rich fruit flavours complemented by zesty acidity. The wine is well balanced with a long persistent finish

Slightly flinty nose with good fruit lift, and long, delicate, tropical flavoured palate.

A broader style with a big impact of ripe tropical fruit characters. Great with food.
