A world class shiraz whose heady bouquet of dark cherries, plums and blackberries, smoky chocolatey oak and briary notes are lifted by a spicy whiff of black pepper and cinnamon and backed by suggestions of graphite and dried herbs. It's sumptuously and evenly ripened, delivering a pure, sour-edged core of shiraz fruit framed by fine, mouthcoating tannins and knit with fresh, newish oak. It finishes long and savoury, with a lingering core of fruit, fresh acids and charcuterie undertones.

Lifted tense black fruits Mediterranean herbs mineral and black pepper aromas regularly feature here. Flavours show a seamless layered richness with a juicy round fleshy mid palate texture and clean natural tasting acidity with fine grained tannins. Balanced in youth turning upfront peppery into spicy and earthy with age with a pleasing sense of fatness. A very seamless wholesome wine.

Admirably powerful and deeply fruited, this assertive and structured shiraz has a long cellaring future. Its smoky, meaty aromas of dark plums, mint and menthol reveal undertones of musk, prune and currant, while its palate shows a surprising degree of fruit sweetness and brightness. A deep and focused core of ripe berry and plum flavour is framed by firm, fine and drying tannins, with a distinctive finish of pepper and spice, mint and menthol.

Strong purple-red; youthful, juicy, berry fruit aromas, the oak well-balanced and integrated. As always, the palate is crammed with ripe fruit and a fair dollop of vanilla oak, but has good balance and structure. Seems a little more elegant.

Dense purple-red; an almost impenetrable array of black fruits dominate the bouquet, with some savoury aspects, and well-balanced and integrated oak. The strong, dense and potent palate has lots of bitter chocolate flavours along with the riper black fruit spectrum of the bouquet; a long, lingering finish has powerful but balanced tannins, and likewise oak. I have beaten the alcohol horse enough to say no more.

Dense purple-red; a rich, ripe bouquet has a cascade of aromas running through leather, licorice, prune and plum, slightly more savoury, perhaps, than Emily's of the same vintage. The palate is loaded with intensely rich and sweet blackberry, plum, prune and spice flavours; the tannins are balanced, as is the oak, but it is undeniable that you feel the alcohol.
