Reserve usually means that they use the better parcels of fruit, and a bit more oak, which is pretty much the case with this organic wine from Jean Bousquet. It's a blend of 85% malbec, with about 5% each of cab sav, merlot and shiraz chucked in the mix. The result is a full-bodied, fruity offering that shows lots of dark fruits and spice on the nose, along with licks of mocha and char. The palate is sweetly-fruited, but still retains some elegance, with approchable tannins, bright acidity, and a slinky, taut finish. Stick it in the cellar for a couple of years, or carve off a slice of lamb and enjoy!
It is a wine of dark violet color with reddish hues. In the nose it presents intense aromas of blackberry with notes of black currant and plum. On the palate it is a balanced and elegant wine, with pure fruit expression like raspberry, fig, and chocolate. It has a well-defined velvety style, excellent structure and a long finish.
