Jed Limited Release Cabernet Franc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If you are planning to do an Argentinian-inspired asado, or bloody big BBQ in Aussie terms, this cab franc from Argentina would fit the bill in the wine department. Aromas of blackcurrant, mint and soft spices tackle the nose, whilst the palate is full-bodied, dry and sturdy with lush red fruits, ground spices and toasty notes before a fine-tannined, dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Deep crimson in colour.

Nose: Complex aromas of cassis, fresh mint and mixed spices.

Palate: Robust red berry flavours on the front palate lead to complex layers of mixed spice and subtle mint. Lightly toasted oak and underlying spice notes seamlessly combine with the rich fruit flavours. The finish features fine ripe tannins with good balance and generous fruit weight.

Mendoza is Argentina’s most famous wine region and also one of the world’s biggest in terms of land mass. The Uco Valley is located at the southernmost tip of Mendoza and as such, it’s high altitude, cool climate vineyards provide an ideal site for Cabernet Franc. This wine was made from closely spaced low yielding vines which produce wines with great depth. Grapes were hand-picked and hand sorted to ensure only the best fruit goes into our limited release wines. Although there are very limited plantings of Cabernet Franc in the Uco Valley, the results to date have been very impressive.
