Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
John Forrest views Syrah as Hawke's Bay's 'premier varietal'. Grown in the Cornerstone Vineyard, in the Gimblett Gravels, the 2007 vintage is still very youthful. Boldly coloured, it is sturdy (14.5 per cent alcohol), with loads of fresh, spicy flavour, highly concentrated and firm. Best drinking 2013+.

Nick Stock (2006 Vintage) says
This looks very much like a star in the making with its ripe plums and exotic Eastern spices, some dark cherries and dark chocolate here too. The palate wields fine tannins with impressive style, placing flavour long through the finish with convincing depth and controlled power. Great wine.

Grown in the Cornerstone Vineyard, in the Gimblett Gravels, the 2006 vintage has deep, youthful colour and a highly fragrant, sweetly oaked bouquet. Mouthfilling (14.5 per cent alcohol) and supple, it has sweet-fruit characters and fresh plum and black-pepper flavours, showing lovely richness and flow.
