Juniper Estate Juniper Crossing Cabernet Sauvignon Merl

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Woah. Who would have thought this would be so concentrated? Suffice to say its a serious Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot that belies it's price point to look much more tannic and deep than expected.

Winemaker's Notes

Vibrant crimson red in colour, this wine shows rich ripe fruit characteristics of blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry and plum along with hints of spice, mocha and toasty vanillin oak. The palate is juicy smooth with a good depth of mixed berry fruit and modest savoury oak influence. The Merlot provides a fleshy mid palate while the Cabernet offers depth & length to the palate.

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A bargain red blend that offers up a convincing regional mix of leaves, cassis and cherry fruit aromas. The palate has fine, bright and ripe nutty tannins that carry blackcurrant smoothly along. Handy freshness and balance.
Good Wine Guide
James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
A 72/21% primary blend, the remainder cabernet franc, malbec and shiraz, 45% estate-grown, the rest from a long-term grower. An extended fermentation was followed by four months in a French oak (15% new); the bright crimson-purple colour announces a fresh, medium-bodied palate with a bright mix of red and black fruits supported by dusty tannins. 14% alc.
