Cracka Review

The second label Chardonnay in the Juniper portfolio, this carries much of the intensity and richness of the top tier wine, if cast in a slightly less oaky (and slightly less serious) frame.

Winemaker's Notes

A beautiful example of a contemporary Chardonnay showing hints of new French oak supporting a lovely mix of floral citrus blossom, stone fruit and fresh bread. The palate is balanced with fine stone fruit flavours and a lingering zesty finish provided by great natural acidity.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
Always a good-value proposition from the Margaret River region, this has a fine stone fruit and tropcial fruit nose, lovely mango and yellow peach here too; a bright, ripe and vibrant style. The palate has melon and peach flavour in a smooth and fleshy shape. Great, easygoing, approachable chardonnay.

Ray Jordan (2011 Vintage) says
A very delicate and precise young chardonnay. Tight minerally fruit with a tart grapefruit character. The palate is neatly integrated with fine fruit flavours and supporting subtle oak. The flavour builds relentlessly to a long finish. Great potential for ageing.

Produced from Mendoza and 95 clone grapes; whole bunch-pressed direct to barrel (40% new) for 10 months. Has that depth and generosity typical of Margaret River, with ripe, white flesh fruit and creamy/cashew oak on the well-balanced palate.

The first impression here is of a concentrated and complex young chardonnay: aromas of peach and lemon, nicely dressed in fresh-cut oak, and hints of butterscotch too. The palate gives a smooth and even textural ride, with a ripe core of peachy fruit and a long, fleshy finish. Has elegance, decent concentration, complexity and balance.

Lovely rich and beautifully fine chardie. Has a very light coating of oak as the deepÊ flavours of meal, grapefruit and subtle stone fruit drive the palate forward. It's perfectly balanced relaying most on the quality of the fruit. Finishes with remarkable precision and focus.

This is in great shape. It has all the richness and power of Margaret River chardonnay, delivered with handy poise and grace. Smells of ripe figs and rich stone fruits, grilled cashews and spicy French timber. The palate has bright, crunchy stone fruits and melon, chipper acid and pleasing grip through the finish.

A riper wine than the 2007 version, this shows more creamy spices and nougat, some honeysuckle, melon and fig fruits, gentle cashew nut oak here too. The palate places similar flavours throughout smooth-honed fruit texture and a nice, deep, juicy finish.

Pale straw-green; a super-elegant and fragrant bouquet is reflected by the palate, with immaculate nectarine and white peach fruit, all in a subtle mode. Will develop a little more punch as it ages.

Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says
This chardonnay has deliberately been made into a modern statement of the variety to display the fruit intensity and just a hint of subtly applied oak. The palate is controlled and tightly wounded with good balance to sustain the finish. Nice natural acid provides a lift.

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Nicely complex and plenty of richness presented with poise and style here; grapefruit and lemon are met with some richer melon and fig aromas, and the oak is set in nicely too. On the palate it's built some texture and weight through the middle with neatly ripe flavour, and oak weighs in to the finish with some grilled nut flavours. Convincing, complex wine.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
A harmonious wine from first sniff to finish and aftertaste, all the components precisely where they should be; has a polish to the mouthfeel and texture; long finish.

Nick Stock (2006 Vintage) says
This has some exotic fruit characters, ripe and juicy, the oak makes a sweeter impression wrapped snug around the fruit. On the palate it's all melons and nectarines, assertive and direct, finishing with fresh nutty almond flavours and sweet spice. Made for up-front enjoyment.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Neatly balanced complex fruit and oak integration; classic Margaret River chardonnay with ripe stone fruit richness and length.
