Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
Estate-grown at Brightwater, in Nelson and matured for a year in French oak casks (30 per cent new), the 2001 vintage is ruby-hued, with a spicy fragrance. A moderately concentrated and supple wine, warm, raspberryish and savoury, it shows good varietal character and complexity.

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
The impressive 1999 vintage was made from low-cropping, young vines at Brightwater in Nelson, and matured for 10 months in new French oak barriques. Deeply coloured for Pinot Noir, it's a mouthfilling wine, fresh, generous and warm, with strong, ripe raspberry, plum and spice flavours seasoned with smoky oak. Well worth cellaring to around 2002.
