Stepped up a notch this year from its already high standards to be an extremely pretty wine. Surprising reach of aromas with minerally pepper and perfumed blueberry fruit complexity. Smells deeply fruity and full of shiraz goodness. It glides into your mouth, such are the velvety tannins, and the fruit is just behind with ripe plum, blackberrry and blue berry that fill the middle palate while early 2013 the tannins satisfy the finish and dry enough to make it a great food wine. The late finish is full of minerals and savoury edges and suggest aging short term.

Supple and elegant but essentially too greenish, this smooth, fine- grained shiraz has a slightly jammy and raisined bouquet of spicy red fruits and sweet cedar/vanilla oak underpinned by herbal influences. It's gentle, pliant but rather attenuated, finishing with sappy, green-edged and metallic notes.

The same established formula here - with a touch of viognier and petit verdot added into the mix - has delivered a bright, ripe, fragant and gently complex young shiraz in a very vivacious, richly fruited style. The nose has blackberry and milk-chocolate aromas; the palate's packed with creamy red fruits and soft, smooth tannins. Very approachable.

An elegant, savoury shiraz whose pristine core of fruit is backed by funky complexity. Its vibrant bouquet of blackberries, redcurrants, sweet oak, cloves and cinnamon has a deep, peppery, violet-like perfume with meaty undertones. It's smooth, measured and evenly paced, with a long, juicy palate supported by fine, silky tannins before a lingering savoury finish. It holds its 14.5% alcohol well.

Violets, liqueur cherries and richer bass notes of black fruit a more serious wine than its price suggest with some firmness along the palate to balance the fruit and alcohol sweetness very pretty and with lovely detail has a regional savoury, mineral spice and drying tannins the wine is soft and drying tannins on the middle. Very consistrent style with 2010 genoristy making this special.

Round and juicy, this early-maturing shiraz has a floral, briary and spicy perfume of light berry fruit backed by nuances of animal hide and a whiff of geranium. Soft and approachable, it's forward and generously flavoured, moderately long and creamy, but does show enough breakdown at the finish to suggest it's enjoyed sooner than later.

The '09 Moppa is a dark and deep, brooding shiraz that also trades on a touch of viognier and petit verdot to add colour and movement. The colour's dark and inky, and the nose smells of ripe blackberry and dark toasted spices, some hazelnutty oak and sweet-smelling earth. The palate's ripe and swarthy, showing plenty of deep black-fruit flavour, blood plums and hard brown spices, all rolled out on thick, soft and hearty Barossa tannin. Good balance and ready to drink.

This has a dense and deep nose with red fruits and some dark berries too. There's a deeper, earthy beetroot side and bright, spicy lift, thanks to a splash of viognier. The palate's smooth and polished, and easy tannins roll in amid lingering, sweet summer berry flavour. Balanced and approachable, smooth and even.

Dark dense purple; a rich, lifted and complex bouquet is followed by a full-bodied and no less complex palate, seemingly riper than the alcohol suggests. There is a lift to the flavour, but whether or not this is due to the trace of viognier and petit verdot is hard to say.

With medium level sweet sour fruit, tannin firmness along the palate to balance the fruit and alcohol sweetness, The finish shows the silky tannins and lovely luscious fruit finishing sweet then suddenly drying.

If you really want to know what a rich, smooth Barossan red tastes like when it has been grown organically, this would be the best place to start. It's mostly shiraz, though there is a small amount of viognier and petit verdot included - to good effect. It's beautiful. Rich, slick, smooth, neither overdone nor underdone. Tastes mostly of dense, dark chocolate, rum, blackberry and raisin, but there's also a kiss of toasty oak. Bloody beauty, mate
