Cracka Review

We love a good Cabernet here at Cracka, and this wine from Karatta has character to burn. Produced from ultra low yielding vines and made by the experienced Duane Coates, this has plenty of sweet blackberry fruit, with a little cool climate leafiness just creeping in, finishing with silky smooth tannins. A meat and potatoes kind of wine, but a good one!

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a deep ruby red colour with powerful yet harmonious dark berry fruit aromas backed by undertones of dried herbs and cedar. The palate is intense and complex, a full bodied Cabernet with blackberry and blackcurrant fruits accented with toasty oak flavours reflecting 18 months maturation in French oak. Drinking beautifully now and will improve with cellaring for the next decade.

Excellent purple-crimson; a harmonious bouquet, the dark fruits and oak in seamless union; the palate has marked drive and thrust, accenting the savoury olive notes and fine tannins.

WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Inky black depths of complex aromas on the nose, leading onto a juicy sweet palate bordering on savoury and rich, with peaty, cigar and black olive-like flavours - very complex.
